In 1933, German scientist Werner Heisenberg was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics and invited into the secret Nazi nuclear energy project called "Uranverein." When Heisenberg's work on the project revealed that an atomic bomb could only be made with heavy water, capable of being produced by the Norsk Hydro factory in Norway, he directs German troops to begin such an operation under secret cover. Only Leif Tronstad, a Norwegian professor aware of Heisenberg's scheme, can warn the British of what the Germans have planned and lead the Allies to sabotage the operation. Inspired by true stories of spies, deceit and heroism, THE HEAVY WATER WAR is an epic, 6-part limited series depicting the unsung struggle that determines the course of World War II.
