Kino Lorber has acquired from Best Friend Forever all North American distribution rights to Ramata-Toulaye Sy’s stunning directorial debut Banel & Adama, a beautifully haunting story of young love and Senegal’s official entry for the 96th Academy Awards. Kino Lorber is planning a theatrical release in 2024, followed by a home video, educational, and digital release on all major platforms.

Kino Lorber has acquired North American distribution rights to 'Green Border', a fierce and compassionate engagement with Europe’s refugee crisis directed by Academy Award-nominee Agnieszka Holland. The film has received widespread critical acclaim since its World Premiere at the Venice Film Festival, where it won seven awards including the Special Jury Prize, and has continued to screen widely on the international festival circuit including bows at TIFF, New York Film Festival, and AFI Fest; most recently, it was nominated for three European Film Awards including Best European Film. Kino Lorber is planning a theatrical release in 2024, followed by a home video, educational, and digital release on all major platforms.

Zeitgeist Films in association with Kino Lorber has acquired North American rights to Amei Wallach’s Taking Venice, an entertaining caper doc that explores the rumored rigging of the 1964 Venice Biennale. Taking Venice made its North American premiere at DOC NYC and will be released theatrically by Zeitgeist Films in spring 2024, followed by an educational, home video, and digital release on all major platforms by Kino Lorber.

Kino Lorber, a leading name in independent film distribution for over 45 years, has launched KINO FILM COLLECTION, a new streaming service available in the U.S. on the Amazon Service via Prime Video Channels for $5.99 per month. The Collection will feature new Kino releases fresh from theaters, along with hundreds of films from its expansive library of more than 4,000 titles, many now streaming for the first time.

Kino Lorber has acquired North American distribution rights to Katherine Propper’s debut feature 'Lost Soulz', a fresh hip hop-infused drama about a young rapper’s journey to harness his creativity and forge his own path to musical superstardom. The film made its world premiere at the 2023 Tribeca Festival, where it won the second place Audience Award, and will make its international premiere at the Raindance Film Festival in London on October 29. Kino Lorber will release Lost Soulz theatrically, digitally, and on home video in 2024.

Kino Lorber has acquired from LevelK North American distribution rights to The Invisible Fight, an Estonian heavy metal kung fu comedy written and directed by Rainer Sarnet (November). The Invisible Fight made its world premiere at the Locarno Film Festival and will next play at Fantastic Fest and the Sitges Film Festival, followed by a theatrical, digital, and home video release via Kino Lorber in 2024.

Kino Lorber announced that it has acquired all North American distribution rights to the final short film by Jean-Luc Godard, Trailer of a Film That Will Never Exist: Phony Wars. The 20-minute short was an official selection at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival and will next screen at the Toronto International Film Festival and the New York Film Festival. Kino Lorber will present the film on a national theatrical tour this fall, followed by a run at New York’s Film Forum in December alongside Cyril Leuthy’s documentary Godard Cinema.

Tunisia has submitted Kaouther Ben Hania’s Cannes prizewinning documentary Four Daughters as their official entry for Best International Feature at the 96th Academy Awards. Winner of the L’Oeil d’Or for Best Documentary at the Cannes Film Festival, where it was the sole Arab film in Competition, Four Daughters will next screen in the Special Presentations section of the Toronto International Film Festival. Kino Lorber will release the film theatrically on October 27 and has also submitted the film in the Academy Awards Best Documentary Feature category.

Zeitgeist Films in association with Kino Lorber, two of the leading distribution companies for art-house and international films in the U.S., announced today that they have acquired all U.S. rights to Ken Loach’s The Old Oak, with a screenplay by his frequent collaborator Paul Laverty (The Wind That Shakes The Barley, Sorry We Missed You). The Old Oak will open theatrically in early 2024 at Film Forum in New York with a national release to follow.

Kino Lorber has acquired North American rights to SXSW prize winner Story Ave, starring Luis Guzmán and Asante Blackk and directed and co-written by debut filmmaker Aristotle Torres. Shot on location in the Bronx, the film won a Special Jury Award for Cinematography at SXSW for the work of DP Eric Branco (The Forty-Year-Old Version, Clemency). Kino Lorber will release Story Ave theatrically in October, followed by a digital and home video release on all major platforms.
