Directed by Kevin Brownlow

Release: 2003
Runtime: 37
Country: U.S., U.K.
Language: English
Director: Kevin Brownlow
Cast: Norma Millay
Writer: Sloane Shelton

Directed by Kevin Brownlow and writing partner Sloane Shelton, this loving tribute to great American poet Edna St. Vincent Millay was filmed entirely at her 700-acre piece of farmland in Upstate New York, combining readings of poems and exclusive interviews with rare archival footage of Millay at work. Beautiful, vivacious and supremely talented, Millay was the feminine ideal of the Jazz Age. Her quatrain, "My candle burns at both ends; It will not last the night; But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends; It gives a lovely light!" became the joyful hymn of her generation. MILLAY AT STEEPLETOP (1983) aims to recapture her joyous fire over thirty years after her passing, and does so with tremendous insight and artistry becoming of her unique legacy.

This release also comes with Brownlow's rare documentary THE LAST TRAM (1962), a poetic farewell to Glasgow's trolleys, shot on the last days before they shut down forever.
