Paolo Gioli: The Complete Filmworks
Directed by Paolo Giolo
Director:
Paolo Giolo
Born in 1942 near Venice, Italy, Paolo Gioli is one of Europes most important experimental filmmakers working today. Containing Gioli Complete Works, this box-set presents 38 remarkable films made between 1969 and 2013, expressing Giolis playfully deconstructive attitude towards motion picture technology, as seen in his early hand-painted films, his unusual manipulations of camera mechanisms and optics, and his unique interest in homemade movie cameras and pin-hole cinematography. The enclosed booklet contains essays by David Bordwell, Giacomo Daniele Fragapane, and Patrick A. Rumble, as well as Film Notes by Gioli himself.
