Word is Out: Stories of Some of Our Lives (DVD)
In 1977, this groundbreaking documentary opened eyes and thrilled audiences across the country by presenting lesbian and gay identities through a genuinely queer lens. Filmmakers Peter Adair, Rob Epstein (two-time Oscar® winner), Lucy Massie Phenix, Veronica Selver, Andrew Brown, and Nancy Adair interviewed dozens of gay men and women about their lives, coming out, and living well in their time. In honor of its place in history, WORD IS OUT was restored for the Legacy Project for GLBT Film Preservation by Outfest and the UCLA Film & Television Archive, and more recently, selected by the Library of Congress for the National Film Registry.
Also includes exclusive updates on the cast and the filmmakers, as well as an homage to Peter Adair, originator and inspired producer of WORD IS OUT.
